Joe Abushanab was born in Jordan, an Arab nation on the east bank of the Jordan River. At the age of 6, he moved to Lafayette, where he acquired his Cajun accent. Joe is the General Manager for New Look Furniture and the popular Mattress Joe locations. He is a devoted father of Jay (12) and Lilah (11). He spends his off time fishing, supporting his son on the soccer field, and grooming his daughter as a future elegant dancer while hoping to learn a few moves from her 7 years of training. Another passion is his love for Cajun cooking. He is a  man of Christian faith and a member of Glad Tiding Church. Joe proclaims his love for Lake Charles by saying, "When it's time to get something done on a neighborly level....this community is awesome at showing up and opening their hearts.”
